Living in Bogor vs Jakarta
The temperatures are definitely cooler here, and at any elevated location where you get a breeze. We originally purchased two air conditioners, but never installed them. With clean air even the warmest afternoon is tolerable. There is little traffic on any of the local roads. However, here is some congestion at the Ciawi toll road exit on those weekends when half of Jakarta tries to go to Puncak. There are nice housing areas in both Ciawi and Bogor that have easy access to the toll road. There are a couple of nice housing complexes behind and west of the Hero near the Bogor exit.
Recreation in the Bogor area
For leisure fishing, there's a little-known spot in Bogor, located in a valley with a view of Mt. Salak where people can fish. Freshwater fishing that is, carp, catfish, etc. There's a Restaurant as well, serving great Indonesian cuisine, 'lesehan style' called Fishing Valley and it's located on Jl. Pemda Raya No. 107 www.fishingvalley.net Location map's included on the website.
