Inside the botanical garden you can also
find the memorial for 'Lady Olivia Marianne Raffles' A neo-roman pavillion raised by her famous husband Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles. Mister Raflles was the British governor-general from the short British period. (1811-1816). She is died in 1814 and is burried in Jakarta.
As a real British lady she got annoyed by the bad habits of the Dutch ladies. They shewed 'Sirih' and weared sarongs...(reading this , it just made me smile...a lot)
